Abstract
Following being rated by Ofsted as 'requiring improvement', this secondary school sought to strengthen SEND provision where profiling and mapping were not yet translating into consistent classroom adaptation or high-quality teaching. Through the Whole School SEND Peer Mentoring programme, leaders focused on strengthening strategic SEND leadership, analysing SEND across the four broad areas of need, establishing the 'Every Leader a Leader of SEND' shared vision, delivering staff training on SEND pedagogy and high-quality teaching, refining curriculum and behaviour policies aligned to universal, targeted and specialist provision, and improving teacher-facing documentation. Evidence of impact includes improved staff confidence, stronger communication about pupil needs, enhanced leadership understanding of SEND accountability, improved quality assurance processes, and more systematic engagement with parents around SEND policies and adaptations, alongside embedding trust-wide CPD and coaching structures.
