Abstract
To strengthen progression outcomes for high-needs learners, this further education college engaged in the SEND Centres of Excellence peer-review programme to review pathway design across mainstream and specialist provision. Challenges included unclear destination pathways, inconsistent personalisation of support, and the need for more effective EHCP consultation processes. Actions introduced clearly defined learner pathways aligned to community independence, further learning and employment, systematic EHCP consultation, enhanced personalised support planning, and the introduction of formal parent agreements. Evidence of impact includes improved local authority funding agreement processes, strengthened understanding of SEND and reasonable adjustments among tutors, increased staff skills in personalised support delivery, learner movement into structured community activities, clearer employment routes through developing Supported Internships, and improved clarity for families about expectations and progression throughout learners' programmes.
