Abstract
In a small village primary school facing falling rolls, budget constraints and rising complexity of need, leaders recognised that three pupils with EHCPs in Year 5 were not benefiting fully from a mainstream curriculum alone. Working with a Profound Needs advisory teacher, staff designed a Preparation for Adulthood programme focused on community independence. A TA supported pupils weekly to develop road safety, confidence with safe strangers, money skills and ordering food, with progress captured in a pupil-created floor book. Evidence of impact includes increased pupil confidence and self-esteem, greater engagement across subjects, pupils talking positively about learning at home, and notably improved parental confidence and satisfaction with the school's inclusive approach.
