Abstract
Across a range of primary, secondary and FE settings, leaders identified the need for flexible, accessible SEND professional development that could be embedded within whole-school improvement. Using the Whole School SEND Online CPD Units, senior leaders first completed targeted modules to shape internal training, before cascading learning through staff meetings, independent study and collaborative reflection. The units were aligned with school priorities and supported by Spotlight Sessions, peer discussion and observation. Evidence of impact includes improved adaptive teaching observed in learning walks, increased staff confidence and shared language around SEND, greater learner independence and engagement, reductions in behavioural incidents in some settings, improved attendance, and a strengthened culture of inclusion supported by flexible, free, and accessible CPD.
