Abstract
Within the ETF Employer Spokes Preparation for Adulthood programme, this specialist FE college targeted barriers to securing sustained employment for learners with complex needs, including restricted transport, limited employer links, and local placement instability. Actions focused on proactive employer relationship-building, job-coach support, job-carving, placement tasters, and development of partnerships with national employers such as Holiday Inn to enable continuity across locations. Evidence of impact includes one learner successfully transferring placements between regions while maintaining employment development, strengthened employer confidence in working with neurodiverse staff, transferable workplace skills development, and improved sustainability of placements. The programme has informed the college's wider strategic shift toward building networks with national employers to support broader learner transitions into paid or voluntary employment.
