Abstract
In response to low rates of mainstream inclusion for learners with EHCPs, this local authority worked with a Whole School SEND Regional SEND Lead to embed WSS resources across the school workforce. Actions included leader-level CPD, SEND peer review using the WSS Review Guide, SENCo hubs, professional development groups, and responsive webinars aligned to Ofsted priorities. Evidence of impact includes SEND Review Guides becoming the standard quality-assurance tool, significant engagement growth (over 450 staff involved), improved SEND confidence among leaders, and inspection outcomes showing SEND rarely identified as an area for improvement. A subsequent CQC/Ofsted revisit noted significant progress, highlighting SEND training expansion and strong system-wide leadership.
