Abstract
Six schools within a multi-academy trust worked with a Whole School SEND Regional Lead to strengthen Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) using the WSS PfA Review Guide. Challenges included inconsistent engagement with families, weak target-setting, limited transition planning, and over-reliance on adult support. Actions focused on improving SEND passports, writing effective SMART targets, strengthening attendance strategies, earlier transition planning, improving careers guidance, and promoting learner independence through refined LSA deployment. Evidence of impact includes improved parental engagement and satisfaction, clearer learning targets, better attendance for learners with SEND, strengthened transitions to post-16 pathways, increased learner independence and self-advocacy, and more coherent trust-wide planning aligned with the EEF implementation cycle.
