Abstract
To address SENCo recruitment challenges and strengthen SEND provision across four secondary schools, this MAT adopted a Whole School SEND Communities of Practice (CoP) model supported by a WSS Regional SEND Lead and the SEND and Preparation for Adulthood Review Guides. SENCOs and aspiring SENCOs engaged in structured CPD sessions, applying learning through SEND and PfA audits in their schools and sharing findings through iterative reflection. Evidence of impact includes improved SEND leadership capacity, consistent audit-informed improvement planning, increased Attainment 8 (+5.85) and Progress 8 (+0.49), improved parental confidence, and Ofsted feedback highlighting stronger curriculum access, more effective adaptations, and improving outcomes for learners with SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
