Abstract
Within a high-deprivation secondary school with a high proportion of pupils with SEND, leaders identified declining engagement in enrichment activities as a barrier to wellbeing, behaviour and preparation for adulthood. Using the Whole School SEND Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) tool, the school audited its curriculum pledge and mapped provision across the four PfA strands. Actions included re-establishing equitable extracurricular access at Key Stage 3, embedding PfA planning within faculties, and introducing digital tracking of learner participation. Early impact includes a 50% increase in enrichment opportunities, an 80% reduction in suspensions, improving attendance, enhanced student voice, positive employer feedback, and clearer post-16 pathways for all learners with SEND.
