Sandnes is a kommune (municipality) just south of the city of Stavanger, in Norway.
Sandnes' schools are professional communities where all teachers, managers and other employees reflect on common values and evaluate and further develop their practice. A professional community is concerned with how the school's practice contributes to the pupils' learning and development. It is therefore natural that co-creation with students contributes to the development work, which requires a school culture where there is room to ask questions and look for answers.
Sandnes' schools use experience-based knowledge together with research-based knowledge, assessments and evaluations as a basis for targeted measures. EDucators work in professional learning communities where colleagues collaborate and value each other to promote a collective culture of sharing and learning for the good of the students. This takes place within and across schools, together with internal and external partners.
